About Kalasalingam University

OVERVIEW

Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering, was established in 1984 by the pioneering Kalasalingam Anandam Ammal Charities. KARE was re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.11 in 2015. In the recently announced NIRF Rankings 2021, KARE achieved 35th rank in the University category, 39th in Engineering and 50th overall.

Six engineering programmes have been accredited by NBA under Tier-1, and 11 engineering departments have been accredited by ABET. The institution continues to do pathbreaking work on various Government and Non-Government research projects. KARE has also received DST funding to establish the National Centre for Advanced Research in Discrete Mathematics.

It has established a state-of-the-art Research Centre named after Nobel laureate Sir C.V. Raman, which is equipped with high-end instruments for conducting advanced research in material sciences and life sciences.

The institute has now expanded its deep commitment to world-class education beyond its campus, by offering Degree and PG Programmes through Online Learning (OL) mode.

Let me begin by extending you a very warm welcome, to the Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education. In this institution that is committed to deliver excellence in diverse spheres of education, thousand of students are pursuing an extensive array of programmes ranging from Engineering, Architecture, Arts, and Sciences, to Business Management and Commerce.

We are offering these world-class programmes at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral levels. As an institution we are deeply committed to research and innovation, and we take pride in the fact that we have emerged as a leading research-driven university.

Another milestone for the institution has been the evolution of our online and distance learning offering. Today we offer the same programmes, in Online and Distance Education modes, to the many aspirants who want to pursue their higher education while they are still working. We always keep our students at the centre of the KARE academic universe, and are working tirelessly to help fulfil each of our student’s career dreams.

To bring to fruition a cherished dream is a rare achievement in deed. For me the establishment of KARE and its incredible growth into a leading research-led university, is just such a dream come true.

“Kalvivallal” Sri .T. Kalasalingam, envisioned a hub of education that would provide quality education for all, and become a shining beacon of light for upcoming generations. It is his vision, ideals and legacy that we are following, and it is his noble ideals that inspire each one of.
It is to further his grand vision that have now stepped out of physical classroom learning, and begun our journey into spreading education tom every corner of the world, through Degree programs offered in the Online as well as Open and Distance Learning modes. I would like to conclude by quoting a few lines from the great poem Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore. “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; Where knowledge is free”.

Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) has, over the years, established itself as a leading provider of high quality education. After establishing the very highest standards of education in the university, we at KARE, now, proudly offer degree programs in Open Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) modes.

This is a huge step towards providing career transforming degrees and world-class education to aspirants who cannot study on-campus, due to personal constraints. These programs will be at par with the on-campus programmes, in terms of curricula and academic rigour.

These programs have been designed to offer extensive interaction with faculty, the peer group and domain experts. To give aspirants the very best learning experience, each student will also be guided by an Academic Mentor for the entire duration of the program.
